Intro (00:03):
Welcome to the Why Alliant Podcast, the show that takes a deep dive into what makes Alliant not only a great place to work, but a company that is laser-focused on putting our clients first, by investing in the best people, removing barriers and delivering the best outcome and every possible competitive advantage. Here is your host, Bledion Dizdari.

Bledion Dizdari (00:36):
Hi. Welcome to another episode of Why Alliant. My name is Bledion Dizdari, and I'm the Executive Vice President at 91㽶. With me today, I've got the pleasure of having Pam Frassineti. Pam, welcome.

Pam Frassineti (00:51):
Thank you, Bled. I appreciate the opportunity to be here.

Bledion Dizdari (00:55):
Awesome. Pam joined Alliant in the last month or so, and Pam, we'd love to hear a little bit about your background, what you think about Alliant so far, even though it's so green, and what attracted you to Alliant. Let's talk about where you've been before you got here.

Pam Frassineti (01:09):
Well, it certainly wasn't by design. I actually never thought in a million years I would end up in the insurance industry, but as fate would have it, I started out intending to be a high school guidance counselor, which took a different turn, but the skill sets that I learned in my Master’s of Education helped me determine what a client needs and then match the resources to those needs. Over time, I ended up working for a few different organizations. One that was more on the group health side, but ultimately ended up at some managed care organizations that led into the opportunity to get into pooling and was recruited to work for a national reinsurance company, of which I just subsequently joined Alliant from.

Bledion Dizdari (01:57):
That's great. Pam, I do love that background, how you intended to go into being a high school guidance counselor. Do you want to expand upon that a little bit?

Pam Frassineti (02:04):
Yes, so I really wanted to work with children, teenagers, because I feel like if you can make a difference in somebody's life, it's going to certainly be life lasting. After I did my internship, I realized in the public school system, I wasn't really able to do as much real counseling as I had intended. But, the beauty of having gone through that education process is learning how to meet clients where they are, help them determine their needs and then fit the resources with what they're looking for, which are skill sets that naturally translate into what we do as insurance brokers.

Bledion Dizdari (02:38):
I love that, Pam. Most people they say fall into insurance. I think that's the case for 99% of us. We never really intend to go into the insurance business. Although, recently there's a lot of majors and there's a lot of colleges and universities that are offering insurance programs, and there's more younger people coming into it. But in our world, a lot of us fell into it, and shoutout to USC and Peter Arkley with the Arkley Institute of Insurance program. With that, Pam, how does that correlate wanting to be a guidance counselor and then being in the insurance industry?

Pam Frassineti (03:08):
I did work at a psychiatric hospital, which helps you navigate all kinds of challenges to face anything. But I was actually recruited to do some marketing for a different company and over time ended up representing some managed care organizations, a TPA, and ultimately was recruited to join my most recent career with a national reinsurance company that is a captive reinsurer headquartered in Vermont.

Bledion Dizdari (03:38):
Awesome, and what attracted you to Alliant, Pam?

Pam Frassineti (03:42):
So first and foremost, I would say it's the people. Through my insurance career, I had an opportunity to meet and get to know and work with a lot of the Alliant folks, so coming over was really something I felt would be a great opportunity. I know Alliant invests in top talent, so I feel privileged to be considered and to have joined part of that team.

Bledion Dizdari (04:05):
That's awesome. Obviously, you knew some of us from the outside before joining. You came on board. What has impressed you the most, what you found unique about Alliant since you've been here?

Pam Frassineti (04:15):
I had already heard so many positive things from the people who work at Alliant, but what really impressed me is the fact that the model that Alliant has in place, that factors in the top talent, putting the clients at the center of everything we do, regardless of where the relationships are, there aren't geographic boundaries, which I think speaks to what makes Alliant so successful. It's really all about relationships, trust and making sure that you deliver what you promise at the end of the day.

Bledion Dizdari (04:48):
I love that. To piggyback off that, Pam, do you think the company you choose to work for impacts the success you have in your career?

Pam Frassineti (04:56):
I absolutely do, and I think that I wanted to make sure that any change I made was reflective of the organization. Trust, truth, transparency, it is irreplaceable, and I think everybody working towards the same end, it leads to success for all parties involved. I do feel like Alliant has everything that I would consider extremely valuable and important with any organization.

Bledion Dizdari (05:24):
That's awesome. Yes, absolutely. What would you tell aspiring executives that are already in the industry to consider when considering Alliant overall?

Pam Frassineti (05:32):
Like I said, the model is unparalleled, and regardless of which organization I have been a part of in the past, I don't know that they operate quite as relationship-centered as Alliant does. When you put the clients at the center, the employees at the center, it builds towards a successful outcome.

Bledion Dizdari (05:55):
Agreed. Thank you for that. I think that's a sentiment of a lot of us here at Alliant. Let's get a little personal. What was your first job?

Pam Frassineti (06:02):
My first job, I was a receptionist for a booking company, but it's not the kind of booking company you might think. It was for movie theaters, so that was my very first job out of college.

Bledion Dizdari (06:15):
What is your guilty pleasure? Something that a lot of us wouldn't know about you.

Pam Frassineti (06:20):
Well, strait-laced, but red velvet cake is my guilty pleasure.

Bledion Dizdari (06:25):
Love it. Yes. Red velvet's dangerous. We love it, too. What is your proudest moment?

Pam Frassineti (06:30):
It's hard for me to feel proud about any one thing, but I feel like I'm most proud that I have built a reputation of trust, transparency and honesty. I think when you have that, it just carries you through no matter what you're doing.

Bledion Dizdari (06:49):
Hundred percent agreed. Awesome. Pam, it was a pleasure speaking with you. Thank you for your time, and until next time everyone. Thank you.

Pam Frassineti (06:57):
Thank you.
